Anti-Racism and Equity Training

Anti-Racism and Equity Training

In December 2023, the Great River Ontario Health Team (GR OHT), in collaboration with the Eastern Ontario Health Unit and the United Way of Eastern Ontario, Prescott-Russell and Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry, brought facilitators to deliver a two-part Anti-Racism and Equity Indicators training over the course of four days.

The Part-One Anti-Racism Crash Course was delivered over three sessions to a total of 77 participants across 31 different organizations, of which 35 participants were staff from 11 GR OHT member organizations. The Part-Two Equity Indicators Framework Workshop was delivered on the final day and was attended by 29 participants, of which 17 were from GR OHT member organizations.

The Great River OHT is committed to advancing health equity and will continue to work toward strengthening the knowledge base of our membership. Great thanks to our facilitators, Becky Saskamoose Kuffner, Dr. Manuella Valle-Castro, and Rissy Hantke from the Prairie Institute for Racial Justice, and to Aronhianes for opening each session with the Haudenosaunee “Edge of the Woods” ceremony to help clear our eyes, our minds, and our hearts.

Stay tuned for more training in the coming year!
